01 - OVERVIEW
What was
this project?
A multi-role B2B platform connecting buyers and suppliers for product sourcing, order management and manufacturing workflows.
I joined the project after the previous designer had left. The client was not fully satisfied with several parts of the existing experience and wanted improvements to key screens while also introducing new functionality.
My role was to enhance usability, align visual consistency across the platform and design new features - while working within the existing product structure and business logic.

THE SITUATION
The previous designer had left. The client wanted things fixed - and new things built.
This wasn't a blank canvas. The platform already had users, existing screens and established business logic. My job was to improve what was broken, maintain what was working and introduce new functionality - without disrupting the existing product or confusing existing users.
04 - MY CONTRIBUTIONS
What I
worked on
AUTHENTICATION & ONBOARDING
Designed a new login experience and signup screens with a step-by-step onboarding flow for new users entering the platform.
PRODUCT DISCOVERY & LISTING
Improved typography, colour hierarchy and content organisation. Enhanced individual product detail pages for better readability and decision-making. Improved the wishlist experience and screen layouts.
DASHBOARD & DATA
Reorganised dashboard layouts and information hierarchy. Structured key metrics, charts and data displays for improved visibility. Simplified complex information for buyers and suppliers.
SUPPLIER WORKFLOW
Designed a Kanban-style workflow screen allowing suppliers to manage and move orders through different manufacturing and fulfillment stages.
BUYER EXPERIENCE
Designed a product request form for buyers to submit detailed product requirements. Created a dedicated order tracking screen where buyers could monitor progress through different production and fulfillment stages.
05 - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS
features
Beyond designing new screens, a significant part of the work involved improving what already existed - redesigning screens identified as usability pain points, aligning layouts and visual patterns across previously designed screens and working closely with managers and developers to ensure smooth implementation of new and updated designs.
06 - CHALLENGES
What made this
complex
01
Improving an established product
The platform already had an existing structure and user base. Improvements had to be meaningful without disrupting what already worked.
02
Creating consistency across stages
Screens had been designed at different points in time. Creating visual and interaction consistency across all of them required careful pattern alignment.
03
Designing for two distinct roles
Buyers and suppliers have different goals and mental models. Each role's screens needed to be optimised for their specific workflow while maintaining platform-wide consistency.
04
Introducing new functionality
Adding new features like the Kanban workflow and product request form required integrating them into an existing product without creating friction for current users.
07 - OUTCOME
What the work
achieved
01
Improved usability and workflow efficiency across key user journeys
02
More consistent visual and interaction patterns throughout the platform
03
Better visibility into supplier operations and buyer order tracking
04
Enhanced onboarding, product discovery and order management experiences
CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE
Due to client confidentiality and contractual restrictions, the final designs and screenshots from this project cannot be publicly shared. This case study covers my role, contributions, and the challenges involved while respecting the client's privacy.
"The most valuable part was learning how to improve a live product - understanding what already existed and making meaningful changes without disrupting what was already working."
